Second Scam Experience: $7K+ in Losses

An overview of one of Kris' scams that resulted in over $7K in losses by falsely stating he had a home in Los Angeles that was actually not under his name nor his.

Summary

On 5/11/2023 to 5/20/2023, a group of us (total of 3) traveled to Los Angeles with the expectation that Kris was going to let us stay at his house as a favor to us for helping him out. We were all excited to go to his place to stay only to find out that we wouldn't be able to because the house did not even belong to him. Below is a brief summary of what transpired.

We claim Kris (Hilton) Leung should have to pay the full accommodation expense ($7,786.01 total) for an LA trip that was scheduled 5/11-5/20. Kris (Hilton) Leung offered accommodation at 1168 Mississippi Ave Los Angeles, CA 90025 to our group from 5/11-5/20. The property was not ready 5/11-5/14 so we booked other accommodations: 2 hotel rooms for us after Property was not ready due to no running water. 1st Airbnb to wait until news that the Property had running water. 2nd Airbnb after no word of when the Property would have running water. Sunday 5/13: With no word from Kris (Hilton) Leung, needing accommodation, losing faith that the Property would be ready, and not wanting so many interruptions to our workday – we decided to book a comparable 2nd Airbnb. After checking out from the 1st Airbnb Kris (Hilton) Leung told us when the Property would be ready, but we had to check out of their 1st Airbnb before they got this news. Kris (Hilton) Leung said the Property would be ready on Monday 5/14 and offered $3k for the inconvenience. We requested the full accommodation amount. Kris (Hilton) Leung refused. When we asked about when we could move into the Property on Monday, Kris (Hilton) Leung never responded.

We requested a local real estate agent in the area to look up the 1168 Mississippi Ave Property on the MLS only to find that the Property is not in the Kris (Hilton) Leung's name. Kris (Hilton) Leung neither provided the accommodation promised, the finances to supplement the inconvenience of the wait for the Property to be ready or the finances for not providing the promised accommodation at all.

Conclusion

Ultimately, we never got reimbursed for any of the trip despite Kris claiming that he will compensate us for part of it. Even then, he scammed us into sending him money for a "cleaner" for "his place" that was not actually his. While in LA, we actually had a real estate agent check MLS to determine who owned the property he was telling us about, and it wasn't under Kris' name. We originally made that trip because we thought we would have free housing - we weren't planning on going to LA if it wasn't for the place he mentioned. Clearly Kris is a chronic liar and a conman. There was no purpose for him to lie his way so far down into this hole when he could've just said "no".
